Royal Class - Reception
Royal Class is a Reception Class taught by Mrs Paine & Miss Clark
Autumn 2 - I wonder what we celebrate...
This term in Reception, our topic has been “I wonder what we celebrate…”. The children have participated in lots of celebrations, including Bonfire night, Children in Need, role-play weddings, Anti-Bullying week and of course Christmas!
The half-term with an exciting Bonfire Experience in our Wildlife area. We made a pretend fire and made edible sparklers! We also explored different types of weddings and what happens at weddings. We learnt about lots of key vocabulary, such as rings, vows and confetti. The children also enjoyed making confetti using hole punchers to use in their role-play.
We were very excited for Christmas in Royal! The children made us very proud as they went on their first school trip. The Santa steam train was magical and got us into the festive spirit. They even had a special visit from Santa himself on our Elf Workshop day. The children worked really hard to practice for their nativity and were amazing at their final performances.
This has been the busiest yet and most fun half term yet! The children have been brilliant and have continued to showcase our SHINE values. Please see the pictures below.
Royal Autumn 2
Autumn 1 - I wonder what is special...
This term in Reception, our topic has been “I wonder what is special…”. The children have explored what makes people, places, and experiences special, and in doing so, they’ve formed some truly special friendships of their own. We are so proud of how well the children have settled into Royal class, embracing new routines with confidence and enthusiasm. The children have shown great independence and teamwork!
Our phonics sessions have been brilliant and the children have taken them in their stride eagerly learning new sounds and applying them in their reading and writing. It’s been fantastic to see their progress and excitement grow each day.
We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming some very special visitors who helped us learn about important roles in our community. A huge thank you to the postal worker, PCSO, site manager, dentist, and doctor who shared their time and stories with us—our Reception children were fascinated and full of thoughtful questions!
We also celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, by learning about its traditions, creating beautiful rangoli patterns, and enjoying stories that helped us understand its meaning. October brought a spooky twist with our Halloween activities, from crafting creepy creatures to dancing the night away at our Halloween disco.
We have had so much fun this half term! Please see the pictures below.
